D. Jean Darling

September 27, 1945 – August 15, 2015

Jean Freer Darling of Syracuse, our loving great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, wife, and sister. Her life was taken too soon by Pancreatic Cancer.  She spent her last days at home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born to Emil Dean Freer and DeCarma Agnes DeMars of Brigham City.  Jean married her Dreamy British Import, Peter Gerald Darling, on September 30, 1966. They have four children, Wendy Darling, Syracuse; Mike (Marilyn) Darling, Ogden; Brianna (Ryan) McDaniel, Syracuse; Jon (Lindsey) Darling, Syracuse. She was blessed with ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents and infant sister Marsha. Survived by her siblings Shirley Meier, Brigham City; Karolyn (Don) Campbell, Syracuse; Richard (Linda) Freer, Kaysville; and Pam Gomm, West Point.

She worked as secretary for the Commander of the 28th Military Airlift Squadron, where she met her husband the day he arrived at Hill AFB on January 19, 1966 after serving in Viet-Nam with the 311th Air Command Squadron as a Loadmaster at DaNang Air Force Base. Jean most recently worked as a secretary for Syracuse Junior High, in the counseling office. Her favorite job was being a wife and mother. Jean was a member of the LDS church. She served in the Young Women, Relief Society, Primary, and as Ward Librarian, with Primary being her favorite calling.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the White Church, 1625 S. 1100 W. Syracuse.  Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
