Obituary

Rodney Green

Richfield, Utah

Rodney Lyn Green, 75, passed away peacefully in St. George , Utah on May 15, 2020 after a long battle with multiple myeloma. He was born on October 21, 1944 in Salt lake City, Utah to Ross S. Green and Hazel Glenn.

Rodney attended schools in Davis County and graduated from Davis High School in 1963. He worked a couple of summers on a ranch in Idaho and loved it so much he obtained a "gentleman’s" farm in Layton, Utah where he raised his family. He learned his trade as a machinist at Trade Tech in SLC and retired from Hill AFB as an engineer planner. He married Kathleen Hancock on August 30, 1968 in Bountiful, Utah, and they were later sealed for eternity in the Manti Temple on April 30, 1971. They are the parents of 5 children: Jason, Jeremy, Jay, Jilynn and Joel.

Rodney was always a good example to his family and loved spending time with them. They would hunt, fish, camp and go on small excursions to enjoy the outdoors. He took this time to have conversations with his children and teach them about the things he felt were important. Rodney’s first priority was always family and he loved having them come to visit. He loved his neighborhood in Richfield and made many good friends. His many secret acts of kindness and charity were important to him. Rod loved to read and through the course of his life he read the standard works of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints completely approximately four times. He very much enjoyed his service in the Manti Temple and the friends he made there. Rodney loved his Savior and never faltered from his testimony, even in his hardest times.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Kathleen, Richfield; children: Jason (Shannon) Green, Sterling; Jay (Melissa) Green, Syracuse; and Jilynn (Jason) Parkhurst, Weatherford, OK; daughter-in-law, Bobette (Randy) Fowles, Delta; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; brother, Glen( Carol) Green, Springville. He is preceded in death by his sons, Jeremy and Joel; parents; brother Kerry, and sister, Mavis.

Due to COVID-19, private family graveside services will be held in Lindquist’s Memorial Park in Layton, Utah. Online guestbook and live streaming of the services will be available at www.maglebymortuary.com under Rodney’s obituary. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

Hugs to Rodney's familyheartand to him!  I feel deep compassion as I think about the obituary info that two sons preceded him in death, and that he battled cancer.  Now he takes his "mortal medals" [as Neal A Maxwell calls our mortal battle scars] with him, encircled in God's arms of love... a heavenly hug as he moves to his heavenly farm!
