EDWARD A. KENLEY

Edward Albert Kenley, 47, of West Point was killed Friday, August 20, 1993 in an automobile accident near Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

He was born September 22, 1945 in Ogden, Utah to Albert Edward and Leona East Kenley.  He was reared and educated in Layton, Utah.  On October 26, 1963 he married Jewell Lee (Julie) Knight.  They had two children, C. Brett and Anya Leone Kenley.  He was owner and president of Ed Kenley Ford in Layton, Utah.  In 1992 he served as chairman of the board of Utah Automobile Dealers Association.  He was the 1992 winner of the Utah State Chamber of Commerce Total Citizen Award.  He also was chosen in 1992 as a Time Magazine Quality Award Dealer.

He was on the board of directors of Oakridge Country Club; past member of the board of directors of the Layton Chamber of Commerce; past president of the Northern Utah Automobile Dealers Association; past president of the Wasatch Front Ford Dealers; chairman of the 1991 Northern Utah Cancer Jail-a-thon; member of the Presidents Club at Weber State University; and, member of the Weber Stat Wildcat Club.  He was the sponsor of several scholarships at Weber State University and Clearfield High School.  He was the recipient of numerous other awards and citations for community service.

He loved to golf, fish, camp, walk and ride his bike.  His family always came first, but his great love for humanity made him reach out in all directions and in all capacities to people everywhere.  It was his greatest gift.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anya, on October 24, 1990.  He is survived by his wife, Julie; son, C. Brett (Kristen) Henley; one brother, Robert E. (Gloria) Kenley.  Funeral arrangements are being made by Myers Mortuary in Roy, Utah with dates and times currently pending.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ed Kenley Memorial Fund, c/0 First Security Bank, 320 East Gentile, Layton, UT 84041.
