Robert Burton Rampton

  Robert Burton Rampton of Renton passed away November 13, 2008 at Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland.  He was 63.

  Mr. Rampton was born on September 7, 1945 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Jack and Alice Rampton.  He was raised in Kaysville, Utah and graduated from Davis High School where he was a champion wrestler.  He also attended Weber State where he received his Bachelor of Science in Zoology.  Mr. Rampton entered the Air Force in 1970 and flew as a Tanker Pilot and then as a Tactical Electronic Warfare Pilot in the Vietnam War.  In Vietnam, Robert earned two Air Medals and The Distinguished Flying Cross.  He was honorably discharged in 1975.  In November 1979, Mr. Rampton married in Chicago, Illinois and then moved his family to Renton, Washington to continue his career with Bekins Van Lines as an Owner/Operator and independent business owner, which he retired from in 1990.  He then started a third career with King County Metro where he was driving until his passing.

  Throughout his life Mr. Rampton was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, loved reading and making wonderful meals with his family.  His biggest love and devotion was to his family which he enjoyed countless hours mentoring and giving back to his children and grand children.

  Survivors include his wife, Suchana Chantaphakul Rampton of Renton, WA; son George Pfeiffer of Renton, WA; daughters, Linda Trautman of Renton, WA and Kim Barham of Kent, WA; mother, Alice Rampton of Kaysville, UT; brothers, Jack Rampton of Salt Lake City and Clark Rampton of Kaysville, UT; sisters, Brooke Anderson of Farmington, UT and Shawn Perkins of Norco, CA; and six grandchildren.

  A funeral service will be held 11 am, Thursday, November 20th, 2008 at Flintoft's Funeral Home, 540 E. Sunset Way, Issaquah.  A graveside committal will be held 1:30 pm, Thursday, November 20th, 2008 at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA 98042.  Following the service there will be a gathering for family and friends.  Please contact Flintoft's Issaquah Funeral Home (425) 392-6444 for location.
