1945 - 2021

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Curtis R. Groberg, age 75, passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada in February 2021 of complications of Covid-19. He was the 2nd child of John and Daisy Groberg, born in Ogden, Utah. He married Leslie Mecham in the Salt Lake Temple. They had five children.

Curtis was raised on a beef farm. He attended Davis High School where he was a member of the basketball, football, and track teams. He served in the U.S. Army Honor Guard during the Vietnam War, being stationed at Fort Meyer and Arlington Cemetery, Virginia. He majored in geology at Weber State College and was frequently on the honor roll. He received advanced training in machining and mechanics and repaired large industrial equipment for power plants and refineries in the western United States and for Kennecott Copper in the Salt Lake Valley.

Curtis served a two-year mission to Ireland for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also served two stake missions as a seventy, he and Leslie served a stake mission and a ward mission together. They were home teaching companions for over a decade. Curtis had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He regularly served at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' pasta plant, cannery, or in the temple.

When their children all lived in Utah, Curtis and Leslie frequently gathered with them and their families, and when the children moved across country, they traveled to visit them. He enjoyed activities or events that included his grandchildren. He liked to keep busy and would prepare food for freezer storage. He was proficient in filleting fish, cutting, and processing wild game, fresh corn from Willard, Utah or Brussel sprouts. Curtis was fond of yearly travel trips with his brothers. Some passions in his life were playing basketball, hunting, fishing, ocean fishing with pontoon pedal boats designed and manufactured by his brothers, hiking, and having a well-groomed lawn.

Curtis's signature of life was keeping the two great commandments and his covenants. He was freely forgiving and a friend to all. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Daisy; brother, Enoch; and granddaughters, Holly and Elisha. He leaves behind, his wife, Leslie; children, Lecil (Trenton), Will (Lusche), Troy (Yani), David (Marie), and Hans (Ashley); twenty-three grandchildren and one great-grandson; brothers, Lowell (Nancy), Dayle, Glen, Reid, John (Shauna); and sister, Vontella (Ron).
